FC Barcelona Set to Play First Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in La Liga over two years following their departure so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.

Barcelona held an open training session on the home pitch on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
