Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
